Boston Swedish Dishcloth | Blue/Coral/Teal | 8" x 6.75" | Sweetgum
Boston is red brick, historic buildings and seafood. Yes, it's all that but so much more! Before starting Sweetgum I worked as an architect for nearly 20 years. This Boston design is the city as seen through the eyes on an architect: a mix of historic buildings and more contemporary buildings. And most important in my mind, how the city engages with Boston Harbor.
I've included in this design the Prudential tower, Back Bay townhouses, the Custom House Tower, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and of course Boston City Hall.
Not a lot of people appreciate the style of Boston City Hall. But ask an architect what they think of the building and you'll get a very enthusiastic response about this example of Brutalist style architecture.
Did you know that when Faneuil Hall Marketplace was built it was located at the water's edge?! The Boston Harbor has changed so much over the years that now Faneuil Hall is blocks away from the water.
Do you see the ducklings in the design? "Make Way for Ducklings" is a wonderful picture book by Robert McCloskey. The story takes place in Boston. You can find a bronze statue of the ducklings in the Boston Public Garden.
Are you wondering what that fish is at the top of the design? It's the Sacred Cod, a carved wood Atlantic Codfish that hangs above the House of Representatives chamber in the Boston State House.
I hope this design inspires you to explore Boston the next time you're visiting.

Use them as dish clothes and to polish my granite countertops. Zero streaking!
I recently purchased the Boston Swedish Dishcloth as an item to add to a Welcome to Boston gift bag I was putting together for friends. We were celebrating a friends 70th bday! Everyone loved it - even those that weren't from out of town. I have been using my for a few days and it is great in the kitchen. Wiping up spills, cleaning off the counter - it rinses clean, dries quick and doesn't smell! Very satisfied and would highly recommend this item as a gift to someone or to yourself.
